BlueStone, India's leading online jewelry retailer, has achieved unicorn status with a $1 billion valuation following its latest funding round. The company is now preparing for an IPO in the second half of 2025.

The Journey to Unicorn

Founded in 2011 by Gaurav Singh Kushwaha, BlueStone started as a pure online jewelry retailer. The company has since evolved into an omnichannel player with 200+ retail stores.

"We proved that you can sell high-value jewelry online," says Kushwaha. "Indians are willing to buy gold and diamonds digitally if you build trust."

Key Metrics

  • Annual Revenue: ₹1,200 crore
  • Stores: 200+ across 50 cities
  • Online Share: 35% of sales
  • Repeat Purchase Rate: 45%

  • The Omnichannel Strategy

BlueStone's success comes from blending online discovery with offline experience:

  • Customers browse and shortlist online
  • They visit stores to see and try pieces
  • Final purchase can happen at either channel
  • After-sales service through app

  • IPO Preparation

The company has appointed bankers and is targeting a $1.5 billion valuation at IPO. They're focusing on:

  • Expanding to 500 stores by IPO
  • Improving EBITDA margins to 10%+
  • Building the brand in Tier 2/3 cities
