In a landmark move to position India as a global AI infrastructure hub, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a tax holiday through 2047 for foreign cloud providers operating AI workloads from Indian data centers. The announcement in Union Budget 2026 is designed to attract massive technology investments.

    "The announcements signal that data centers are being treated as a strategic business sector," said Rohit Kumar of The Quantum Hub. India's data-center power capacity is projected to reach 2 gigawatts by 2026 and 8 gigawatts by 2030.
