When Niti and Ayush Gupta saw their grandmother struggle with diabetes management, they decided to solve the problem. Their startup BeatO is now India's largest digital diabetes care platform, helping 1.5 million patients manage their condition.

A Personal Mission

"Our grandmother would prick her finger, note readings in a diary, and visit the doctor monthly," recalls Niti. "We thought—surely there's a better way."

The siblings, both IIT graduates, started BeatO in 2015 with a simple idea: a glucometer that connects to smartphones.

Building the Full Stack

BeatO evolved from a hardware device to a complete care platform:

Phase 1 (2015-2018): Hardware

  • Smartphone-connected glucometer
  • Automatic data logging
  • Trend visualization

  • Phase 2 (2018-2021): Digital Care

  • AI-powered diet recommendations
  • Medication reminders
  • Health coaching

  • Phase 3 (2021-Present): Complete Care

  • Doctor consultations
  • Medicine delivery
  • Lab tests
  • Health programs

  • The Twin Dynamic

Working with a sibling has its challenges, but Niti and Ayush have made it work by clearly dividing responsibilities.

"I handle product and technology. Niti handles operations and growth," says Ayush. "We rarely step on each other's toes."

    What's Next

BeatO is launching specialized programs for Type 1 diabetes and gestational diabetes. They're also expanding to UAE and Southeast Asia, where diabetes prevalence is equally high.

"We want to be the global standard for diabetes care," says Niti. "The technology works. Now we need to scale."
