What Sarvam Builds
Sarvam AI develops Indic-first foundation models optimized for India’s 22 official languages and the country’s telephony-heavy customer service workflows. Key products:
Why It Matters
India’s LLM stack has historically depended on US-trained models with limited proficiency in Indian languages. Sarvam’s models score state-of-the-art on Indic benchmarks (IndicMMLU, INCLUDE) and are deployed by 14 of India’s top 50 banks for voice-based customer service.
Sovereign AI Tailwind
The round comes as the Government of India’s IndiaAI Mission allocated ₹10,372 crore toward subsidized GPU compute and foundation model grants. Sarvam was one of three companies selected for the inaugural sovereign model cohort alongside Krutrim and Soket AI.
What’s Next
The company plans to release Sarvam-3 (140B parameters) by Q4 2026 and open up its voice agent platform via a self-serve API later this quarter.
