Quick commerce startup Zepto has raised $665 million in its Series F funding round, pushing its valuation to $3.6 billion. The round was led by StepStone Group, with participation from existing investors including Glade Brook Capital, Nexus Venture Partners, and Y Combinator Continuity.

A New Chapter in Quick Commerce

The funding comes at a pivotal time for the quick commerce sector in India. With Blinkit (owned by Zomato) and Swiggy's Instamart aggressively expanding their dark store networks, Zepto is using this capital to solidify its market position.

"This investment will fuel our expansion into 15 new cities and double our dark store count to 700 by the end of next year," said co-founder Aadit Palicha. "We're also investing heavily in our supply chain technology to bring delivery times under 8 minutes."

The Quick Commerce Battle

The Indian quick commerce market is projected to reach $5.5 billion by 2025, growing at over 50% annually. Key players are competing on:

  • Delivery speed: The race to sub-10-minute delivery
  • Dark store density: More stores mean faster delivery
  • Product assortment: Expanding beyond groceries to electronics and more
  • Technology: AI-driven demand forecasting and route optimization

  • What's Next for Zepto

With this funding, Zepto plans to:

  • Expand to 30 cities from the current 15
  • Launch Zepto Pass, a subscription service for free deliveries
  • Introduce private label products
  • Invest in sustainable packaging and electric delivery vehicles

  • The company has grown 5x year-over-year and now processes over 1 million orders daily. Investors are betting that quick commerce will fundamentally change how urban India shops for essentials.
